Surfing

The west coast of Phuket not only has stunning sandy beaches, but is also the best place for surfing in Thailand. With many location to choose from, including our own Nai Harn beach, conditions are perfect for beginners to learn to surf or for experienced surfers to enjoy the large rolling waves. Further afield, surfers can travel up the coast heading north to Kata, Karon, Kalim, Kamala, Surin and Bang Tao beaches, but one of the best beaches to rent equipment is in Kata, about 10 minutes north from Sapphire Villa. There are several rental outlets in Kata, mainly located right on the beach, but prices do vary, so we recommend you ask the price of renting boards in a few different places, to make sure you are getting the best deal. As a guide you should expect to pay about 150 Baht for one hour, 500 Baht for one day and for the committed surfer, about 7,000 Baht for one month.
